Q: Has anyone else quit smoking since they got the BFP?

I found out 2 days ago (at 7 dpo!) That we made an angel baby! :)

I am on day 2 of no smoking at all... I just quit cold turkey. I have been smoking for 8 years.
My DH is not having as easy of a time as i am...

I am looking for other mama's going through something similar or even needing support!

Octivia, that's hilarious!!! haha thanks for making me smile!
Its funny but with my ultra sensitive sense of smell, cigarette smoke is like an assault on my nose!
My DH hasn't quit yet (but cut down drastically for now) and when he smokes its soooo gross smelling!
I still get the occasional urges, but when i think about actually giving in, it kinda grosses me out :)
I am grateful for that! :)

Day 3- Congratulations!!!! You are doing so well! On day 3 you know what I was doing? I was standing extra "close" to strangers who were smoking and waiting for the bus...yup I was "bumming" smoke fumes, sick, sick, sick and oh so funny now lol .

Oh - balloons- blow them up it feels like "inhaling" and I found it helpful

thanks for the tips! I am still tobacco free! day 3 and FEELING GREAT!
Its funny, but what seems to help me mist is kinda programming my brain with positive thoughts..every time i want one i say to myself " Man, it was so easy for me to quit smoking! I am amazed how easy it was! It's like i just didnt want cigarettes anymore!" I basically "pretend" that i am me from the distant future who already quit successfully.
Might sound crazy, but thoughts become things, so why not?! haha

I quite when we started to try for a baby and I too was a smoker for 8 years and I loved it! I loved everything about smoking. But I know that what made quitting easier was the goal of a baby. I wont lie, I cracked once and had a smoke and I did think about it all the way till 5 months after I quite. But the focus on the baby was really strong and helpful.

A few things I did to get over cravings:

-Stop activities that I associate with smoking

-Every time I felt a craving I bought myself something as a distraction

- I took a knitting class to keep my hands busy and now 6 months later I have made 3 baby blankets and many hats

-It was very helpful that my husband quite a few years ago and we don't have one smoker friends

Good luck, it will be bumpy at first but you can do it ! Even if you crack and smoke a cigarette ( or 2 or 3 ) it is still better than if you never tried to quite in the first place so don't beat yourself up if you slip , just start again.

I did the same thing with my first pregnancy and haven't started again. Even after a m/c. You can do it, it gets easier. Cold turkey is the best way.
