Labour is something you just have to play out when you get to that point. I thought with my first pregnancy I was going to do it all natural but half way through I was begging for that epidural lol I was all back labour and it hurt like nothing I've ever experienced. But the epidural did its job quite well and before I knew it everything was numb lol it was great compared to all that pain. As far being induced goes usually you have to be overdue by at least a week (in Canada) I don't think they just go ahead and induce you when requested. At the end of it all the pain goes away and you have a beautiful baby.

First off...our bodies were meant to do this. Do not be scared. I would be lying if I said it didn't hurt...it does, but you really aren't thinking about the pain as much as you are thinking about becoming and mom and meeting your baby for the very first time!

Second- you aren't even considered full term until you are at least 36 weeks, and you usually aren't given the option to induce...they only do it when medically necessary, at least here in the US. It is not healthy for you or the baby to deliver earlier than necessary unless one of you is experiencing complications and is at greater risk than the risks associated with being induced.

Speaking from experience, I was induced with my daughter, and it was an awful experience, and your risk for c-section doubles with induction. My 2cents: If you can avoid being induced, AVOID it, and if the docs decide to induce, make sure you eat a very filling meal before you go to the hospital...It took me 3 days (no food) to deliver DD.
