Q: 32 weeks with sharp shooting pain up inside my vagina

Anyone else have this sharp shooting pain in their vagina?? I was fine when I got out of bed but it happened when I bent over to kiss my daughter goodbye for school and I started walking back the hall to go lay down again. It stopped me in my tracks . Not having it laying down now though. ????

THis pain doens't necessarily mean the baby is head down, thought at this stage that is most common, it could be a baby foot, bum or even elbow placing the pressure down around the cervical area as well, but If baby is head down that is a very good sign for you and a smoother labour and delivery :)

I am just over 30 weeks pregnant and have had these same sharp shooting pains 2 or 3 times during the past week.. (So I'm glad you asked the question as I was also wondering..)
If I understand the other comments correctly, does this mean my baby is head down? (I am going for a scan tomorrow so will eventually find out! :) )

It's actually quite exciting.. as it's another sign of delivery time being a mere 10 weeks away.. ! (about 8 for me..).
Just when I think I'm getting the hang of the symptoms, another one pops up!!

I got them all the time with my first, it's totally normal, it totally sucks and hurts but it's normal :) From what I was told the pain is usually coming from the cervix and/or possibly the pelvic wall muscles. Since you are so far along it is most likely the babies head pushing down around the cervix area, it can also be a sign of mild dilation of the cervix, not unexpected since you are 32 wks. many woman spend part of their last trimester a centimeter or two dialated. It's usually worse when standing up since this position allows the baby the most pressure down into the pelvis.
Unless these pains are accompanied my contractions or bleeding I wouldn't worry at all :) Good luck

I have this every now and then, makes you jump like someones shoved a hot polka up your bits !!! I believe its "stretching" pains....and since you are so close to the end your body is limbering up. I wouldn't be too worried.
