Q: HCG Level

Hi Ladies,

Just decided to come and get others opinions on this issue. I went to the Dr. for another reason and found out that I was pregnant, mind you it wasn't even time for my period to even arrive yet. They tested my blood and gave me a vaginal ultrasound. They stated that my levels were 1072 at the time and the Dr. stated that those were extremely low numbers I should be in the 5 digits between 3 - 5 wks preggo. I went back 2 days later and had it drawn again and it was 2070 and they are still saying it is low. I am scheduled this week for an ultrasound. Has anyone been told how high your HCG levels should be? When I checked around it seemed to me that those numbers were fine. I have had 3 miscarriages in the past.

you are five weeks at the most? Those numbers seem just fine.
3 weeks 6 days I had my blood drawn and the level was 102. I think your levels are high not low.

Your numbers sound fine to me. I hate when doctors tell women their numbers are too low and set them into a panic. What jerks. Technically the numbers are supposed to double every 48-72 hours, which is what it looks like your numbers are doing. They tend to slow down the higher they get. Ugh. 1072 is NOT extremely low. My numbers started out at 31 at 13 DPO. They went from 31 to 48, 145 and then 380 (3 weeks along). They stopped after that because the numbers looked fine to them and I am in my 9th week now and have heard the heartbeat twice. Good luck and congrats!
