Q: Acne solutions?

I've had terrible acne ever since I stopped taking the pill back about 3 years ago. It's so bad my esthetician thought I had food allergies. I take great care of my skin, always use sunscreen, cleanse before bed and in the morning, I even wash my pillow case at least once a week. I've tried just about every (affordable) acne system, including Proactiv, it just didn't do it for me. I also tried weekly facials and microdermabrasion, helped a little but not enough. I'm convinced my acne is caused by my diet/hormones. It's gotten even worse since I became pregnant, so now I think it's more hormonal. Does anyone have any suggestions on supplements/products/systems to get rid of it or greatly reduce it? I'm just tired of feeling like I'm a pimply 16 year old (BTW, when I was 16 my skin was clear, thanks to our lovely old friend the birth control pill!)

I have the same problem. My doc said I could use my prepregnancy prescription of benzaclyn once day at the most but to try to use it sparingly. She also gave me the unfortunate news that because it's hormonal, she doubts anything will help much. It has been helping a bit on my face but I feel like my back is out of control. And those drug store treatments just don't help at all.

I use organic tea tree oil for my acne.... It is very strong smelling, but totally natural and does a great job of drying them up. Its best overnight, and you wanna keep it away from your eyes...

I had the worst acne about 8 months ago...It was red & puffy...it was all over my cheeks & jaw line. I actually took before & after pictures to prove that the product i had bought was working. I bought Bio-oil..its about $12 at almost any store...it worked great!! I use it every day & then at the end of the day I use a liquid facial soap in the shower. It's harder to control once your pregnant because of all the hormones, but you just have to stay on it.

I too have been breaking out since I found out I was pregnant. I have heard that fish oil capsules can work wonders. I've been using spectro jel cleaner and the liquid treatment that u can wear under make up. It's been helping me a lot.:)

I'm not sure how well it works but one of the girls in another forum said she was on acidophilus pills for acne?? I'd just check w/ your doc first....they're available at any healthfood/vitamin store. Good Luck!

I usually have pretty clear skin, but these pregnancy hormones seem to be putting my skin on the fritz! I am using a gentle daily scrub, but for spot treatment, I just bought the Burt's Bees herbal blemish stick

You can get it at Target, it's something different to try and there are no harsh chemicals. So far it seems to be helping without causing irritation or excessive drying like some acne treatment.
