Q: Freaking out now about un-monitored Clomid! Please help!

I am an u/s for this Thursday to see how my pregnancy is going. It is my 1st prenatal appointment since finding out I am pregnant. I am 8 weeks and so happy I am pregnant but I AM FREAKING OUT!

I have PCOS and would not ovulate on the right normally. I had cysts from time to time but never needed surgery and they would go away on their own. Biggest one was 3 cm.

My obgyn gave us Clomid 50mg for our 1st round once a day cd 5-9. Un-monitored. That's right, no u/s mid cycle, no nothing. Just plain old lets see what happens with regular baby dance being timed.

Well, I got my BFP! But now I am reading these stories of 7-10 follicles can mature and I can not be pregnant with that many. I get it, there's a chance of twins and even triplets. And I am okay with that. But I am still freaking out.

Anyone on here or know of someone who took Clomid un-monitored and ended up with multiples. Or if you ended up with a singleton?

Please let me know your story.

Went to the dr's and was told it wasn't triplets but she couldn't tell if there was two because there was a shadow....She thinks there might be two. I will be sooo happy if there was two but just as happy as one. Clomid def. works. Thanks ladies for your answers. Interesting to hear from everyone!

I have been on un-monitored Clomid three times, and got pregnant twice.- The 1one pregnancy was early March 2012 & I lost it before I got to the doctor, so not sure if it was more than 1. I am now pregnant IMMEDIATELY after miscarrying, again on Clomid, and it's just 1 baby. Hope this helps!

Hey there,
I was on clomid 50mg days 3-7 and i am currently pregnant with triplets. I didn't have any U/S or trigger shots. Just take the clomid and BD...lol
So yes it does happen.

Actually a younger midwife from the practice I was with in my first pregnancy was taking a pretty low amount of clomid and ended up with triplets. She just gave birth to three healthy boys about a month ago. So it definitely happens but I know that its at a lower percent range. I wouldnt worry too much and stress yourself out over it though.

The chances of twins in clomid is only 10% and most of those had u/s to time their hcg trigger shots so odds are you have a singleton especially considering you took clomid from cycle day 5-9 which is ment to stimulate fewer follicles but make those follicles big and healthy. So multiples are slightly more common in clomid taken cycles days 2/3-7. I would relax, your doctor knew what they were doing and clomid alone is the first choice for anovulation because of its low chances of multiples and when those multiples happen they are rarely more than twins. relax momma and enjoy your blessing

Thanks, that makes me feel better. I started freaking out when my mom joked about it. Its nice to hear from someone that they did the same and it turned out okay. And healthy! Thats fantastic. Thank you and congrats on your baby girl!

Just because a follicle matures, does not mean it will fertilize. Further more, if they do fertilize, that doesn't mean they will attach. If by some chance you had that many mature, and attach, your Dr. will discuss options. I was also on clomid, un-monitored. I am currently 25 weeks with a perfectly healthy baby girl. Just relax.
