Q: 29 Weeks and Period-Like Cramps Normal?

Hi Ladies - I am currently waiting for a call back from my doctor, but in the meantime, I am wondering if anyone else has experienced period-like cramps early in their 3rd trimester, and if this is normal? I've had these cramps since I woke up this morning, and their constant... which is why I don't think it's BH. I'm not having an tightening of my abdomen. Maybe it's just normal growing pains, as my uterus is getting bigger? But I can't help but worry a bit (that's what us mommas-to-be do best, right?) Anyone with a similar experience?

I was having a similiar problem earlier this week more in the back than front but the same intensity(I'm 27 weeks) and I saw my doctor Monday and she thinks it might just be dehydration. I increased my water intake and I've felt better since. She told me if the pain persists and didn't go away with rest and hydration then I needed to get checked out further. Where I live the temp is already in the 90's, so i guess I just didn't consider that I'd need to consume even more water than usual. Hope you feel better soon:-)

Thanks for the replies. I heard back from doc and they said it sounded like pretty normal pregnancy pains, and gave me the advice I expected... rest, lay on my side, drink lots of water, and warm bath. Still a little nervous as the period-like pain is continuing, but hoping a good nights sleep will help everything subside. And in the meantime, chocolate sounds great!! :)

I am only 24 weeks but I had this over the weekend. I wasn't worried about the cramping as much but then I had a little bit of bloody discharge too. I went in for a couple of hours for monitoring and I wasn't having any contractions; but between the time I called and they brought me in I had relaxed on my left side for 45 minutes and drank a bunch of water. I think it was likely I had just overworked myself and was also possibly a bit dehydrated. Try downing a big glass of water and relaxing; hopefully that will help!

i have these pains aswell as BH so i know what you mean. I have been to the maternity ward many times with these pains and they are just stretching pains. At this stage we are on the home run so our body is limbering up and the period like pains are the pelvis making room for the impending birth. If you are not doubled over in pain and you don't have any bleeding i would just rest and keep hydrated :) a hot water bottle helps too ..... (and chocolate)
