Q: Stabbing pains in lower abdomen at 36+2 weeks.

Recently been getting a really dull backache and sharp, shooting, stabbing pains right above my pubic bone, they seem to be irregular but are getting more painful.
I was recently told that my baby has dropped 2/3 of the way down, could this be him dropping the rest of the way or something else?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated x.o.x

I feel like my baby must have dropped, I have had hip pain my whole pregnancy, but this is insane! Now I have hip pain and lower abdomen/pelvic pain and have a really hard time even turning over in bed or getting up from bed becasue my everything is so painful. Its such a process it wakes my up completely! Im 34 weeks and feel like im in my own personal hell every night! Now the baby is kicking and pushing so hard it feels like its trying to dig its way out! I did not feel anything like this with my first pregnancy :s just hoping for some relief in some form!

I am 35 weeks today and also have these stabbing pains.
At my last checkup the doc told me because the baby is head down (and perhaps in your case starting to drop) that when baby turns his/her head, it presses on a nerve causing the stabbing pain.

I am having it more and more frequently and will ask my doc again in a few days when I see her!
I suspect my baby might have started to drop aswell.

Good luck!

Yes, sounds like he is dropping the rest of the way :) I had those extreme stabbing pains with my first....I mean they would make me yelp and take my breath away and we actually went to the ER two times b/c I thought they meant I was in labor. Its your body preparing...and its no fun :( The dull back ache could be a sign of back labor....sounds like the little love bug is getting ready to arrive!!
