Q: When do most women start showing?

Hey ladies,

I'm 12wks and in the last couple of days I've noticed that I can feel my uterus. Even though I'm very aware of it, I still look pretty flat and I don't think anyone else would take a second glance.

I'm quite short and thin, and this will be my first baby. Also, I've got quite strong abdominal muscles and never gain weight on my stomach.

Would these things affect when I start to show? Is it likely to be soon now that I can feel my womb? Most importantly, when should I hit the shops for some maternity clothes? I don't want to be left unprepared (and I love shopping)!

I am short petite, and thin. My abdomen has always been pretty muscular and flat and this too is my first baby. I starting showing at about 22 weeks. :)

Thanks everyone :) I guess I'll just have to wait and see. I'd quite like to save on the maternity wear for now, but part of me just wants a huge baby bump!

Each woman is different. Depends on your body type. I am tall and thin and with my first started showing around 5 months. SInce your short and thin, you will probably start showing earlier b/c the uterus doesn't have as much room to stretch up and down on shorter women so it stretches outward. I know I couldn't wait unitl I was showing. Good Luck :)

I am tall & thin and very fit. I did crunches uo til the day I had each of my four children and I showed so little that noone knew I was pregnant until I hit 8 months & then when I told them how far along I was they were like No WAY! I carry my children very close to the rear and having strong abs makes it hold in snug. Only ptifall is I didn't get the joy of people making a big deal over me being pregnant and alot of lower back aches as baby sat so close to rear. It did save on maternity wear. I had no need for it really. Just couldnt wear my skinny jeans but all else I manage to wear. I gained about 15 pounds with each baby and my last one was 8lbs 9 oz and 21 1/2 incehs long. As long as your healthy, baby is healthy & you are gaining appropriate my doc said stay fit, work out and I did my workout til the very end. Great thing also breast feed. I was back in my jeans within a week and weighed ten pounds less than I did when I started a week after birth! Blessings 2 u!

Every woman is different. Usually it takes a little longer to show in your first pregnancy and most women show sooner in following pregnancies. I'm a larger lady and this is my first. For me, I didn't start showing until after 20 weeks and didn't start wearing maternity clothes until around 22-23 weeks. No real way to know until it happens:-)
