i had the same type of spotting on and off until week 13. It was never red and I didn't have cramps. You will just have to wait for your scan to see in about a week. I am now 25 weeks and everything is looking good. If you don't have cramps and it isn't red, then I wouldn't worry too much. Good luck.

I had pink spotting at 5 weeks and my doctor told me to go to the ER. There they drew blood, gave urine, checked my cervix, did an external u/s and and internal one. They were able to see a 5w1d sac (one day more than I should've been). They said I had a subchorionic hemmorhage and classified me with a "threatened miscarriage:. I was put on pelvic rest, but I put myself on a modified bedrest. They can do a scan at 5+ weeks. They may not see a baby or heartbeat, but they can get useful measurements. I would get a second opinion.

I had a brown discharge at 6 weeks. I went to my Doc and they checked my cervix and then did the blood work to measure HCG. My doc said blood work will be the best as ultrasound will be too earlier at that stage. After measuring HCG levels perfect, I was relaxed even though I did not do any ultrasound. Now I'm 21 weeks and my LO is absolutely doing fine.
Do not worry, everything will be just fine. Do not hesitate to ask ur doc for bloodwork to check HCG levels that will help u to relax. Best wishes for u!

I had a chemical pregnancy back in October - it started as brown discharge for a little over a week and then progressed to menstrual bleeding. Then this current pregnancy I spotted for a couple of days when my period was due than I also spotted around 5-6th week. The pregnancy was termed a "threatened miscarriage" - it could've gone either way. Sometimes spotting is normal other times it means miscarriage. Unfortunately when I went through the chemical pregnancy and this last one - there was nothing they could do to prevent it from happening if it was going to be a miscarriage. Waiting to find out how the pregnancies were going to go were brutal. Just do your best to stay calm and focus on taking care of yourself right now! Good luck!

Brown discharge apparently, can be normal. However! Not to scare you, but brown discharge is how my miscarriage started. Just shy of 7 weeks I started with the same milky brown discharge on a Tuesday. Everything I had read online said its normal and not worry. Everything said to only worry if it turned bright red. While, Friday, I decided to call my OB and see what she had to say. She said the brown discharge was considered spotting and that I needed to go to the ER because if I was Rh- I would need a special medication shot. So I went to the ER. The took blood, did an ultra sound, and did an internal exam. My HCG levels were low, there was no heartbeat, and the sac was only measuring around 5 weeks. Later that night, while sleeping, I started getting cramps...BAD cramps. Then I started to bleed, heavily. The whole process lasted 5 days (a few days longer than a normal AF), but it was much more intense. I passed the baby on Saturday night. Best of luck!

I had brown spotting too for the first 5 to 6 weeks of my pregnancy. If it is getting worse I would notify your OB. I have heard it is normal as well, but if it is stressing you out then you need to contact your doctor. The less stress on you and baby the better.

I spotted brown at 6/8/14 weeks and midwives told me it was "normal" ... I'm now 3 weeks off my due date so try not to worry (i know its easier said than done) but brown is old blood and if you dont have any severe cramping it'll just be your body cleaning itself up :) Good Luck.
