Q: sensitive skin causing sunburn even AFTER sunscreen...HELP!

I'm 11 weeks pregnant. This being my first pregnancy I noticed my skin has become extremely sensitive. Now the sun is coming out a lot more...I haven't been going out a lot. But when I do go out, i get really bad sun burn even after putting on layers and layers of sunscreen....My lip has gotten sun blisters twice this month. And it's really painful...I put chapstick that has spf 15 and still nothing works...Anyone else out there that has the same problem? if so, what did u do?

I'm just as bad as you are. Honestly, the only way to avoid it in the summer months is to stay out of the sun all together or stay covered up while outside (yeah right, like you're not already hot enough with being pregnant to begin with!) If you MUST be out in the sun use a high rate SPF (I've used 70 SPF or over - I know sounds ridiculous) and make sure you keep reapplying. Just keep in mind that as you get further along, excessive sun exposure and sunburn coorelates with preterm labor.

My problem is not that severe at all, but I have noticed that my skin is a lot more sensitive to the sun, even in the tiniest amounts, and my skin quickly feels like it's on fire. I'm assuming it probably has a lot to do with the extra volume of blood in our bodies, and the capillaries in our skin being more dilated with blood... but that's just a guess.

I wear a wide brimmed hat, always use non-fragrance, no-paraben suncreen if I'm going to be in direct sun for more then 10 minutes, and I stick to the shade as much as possible. I also have a light mineral face powder that is 50spf.

Good luck!
