Q: Showing at 13 weeks.

Ok so this might be a dumb question, but I want to know why I am showing at 13 weeks (big enough to wear I am only comfortable in maternity pants)? I know my baby isnt bigger than a peach, and my uterus is just peeking above my pelvic bone, but I am showing. This is my first so I cant use the "2nd baby" excuse of having more stretched out muslces. Before I was pg, I had a small pouch, but I had just finished the Insanity workout and my abs were pretty solid. So the question really is, what is making me show already? Thanks in advance....also there is only 1 in there :-)

No offense, but looking at your weight chart you seem to be a little on the heavier side, so maybe that's it?

I've heard that some women show early (even with their first) just because of the position of their uterus. Not only that, as soon as your uterus starts to move up and out, it pushes everything above and in front of it up and out. The only problem is that if you're not ready to tell people you are pregnant and you show its hard to keep a secret. Otherwise, most people expect a pregnant woman to show, so be happy you have a visable excuse for all the crazy symptoms and enjoy your pregnancy! You'll have your own body back before you know it.

I wasn't showing at 13 weeks, but I did change to maternity pants around then just because jeans put too much pressure on my lower abdomen/ pelvis. You might want to make sure your eating habits are still healthy (you don't need many extra calories at this point and really shouldn't have gained much weight).

Other than that, it could be bloating like the other ladies have said. I bloated SO MUCH my first trimester but oddly my tummy has really flattened out in my second :/

I am only 8.5 weeks and also are showing above my belly button upwards...like a thickening of that area. I agree with janastep73.....everything is moving up. Some people show really early if you have a look on here at the baby bump pics...:)

I dont feel like I am bloated. I havent been bloated for a couple weeks, which I am so happy about. I try to stay away from foods that would cause bloating.I am getting big around my bellybutton not near where my stomach is.I havent gained any wait either so I guess I am just showing early and will end up bigger in the end, just as long as my baby is healthy then I am ok with showing early :-)

What I was told is that even though your uterus is still low and small (about the size of a grapefruit I think), it's probably bloating and that everything that is above your uterus starts pushing up as your uterus starts to ascend out of your pubic area. I don't know about you, but I'm 14 weeks and I am getting big from my belly button up to just below where my bra stops, but the actual part where my uterus probably is (in between the belly button down to the pubic bone) is not big yet.

It's probably bloating. I had bloating for a long time and I swear I felt like I had a belly bump. It does eventually go away.
