Q: Baby registry

When did you all start making your registries? I am only 7 weeks but I think my mother in law wants to get us some things for Christmas. When we told them, she immediately asked if I was going to make a registry. Then when I showed her the travel system I want she asked if it would be on the registry. I was thinking it would help the grandparents if they want to get us stuff early, but I don't want to start making a registry just yet bc its still so early.

How fun! I know it's tempting to get a registry started!! I'd say, just like the 2 other posters, to wait until you are at least 12-16 weeks. Right after that first trimester.....then go hog wild!!! LOL

Congrats!! :)

Haha, I don't know why she was so stuck on a registry. I think it's because they live in the middle of nowhere and she is going to have to order everything online and wants to make sure she gets the right thing. I am going to wait until the first trimester is over, even though I am itching to start. I kinda feel like it is bad luck too. And first trimester will be done with plenty of time to shop for Christmas ;-)

I agree with ginabee. It's better to at least wait until you are past the first trimester. I did mine at 18 weeks. As for your MIL buying you things, gina is absolutely right. Why not just give her a list of things you want/need. Why does she need a registry?

If you can wait closer to the end of the first trimester, I would probably wait until then. That's when I started mine - I felt like making a wish list earlier than that was bad luck or something (but that's just me). Now this didn't stop my MIL from buying diapers and other things as soon as we told them we were pregnant, though :)

Why does she need a registry to buy you things? Can you just give her more details on what it is you want without putting it on a registry?
