Q: BABY DIAPERS!!!!!!!!

Well my question is about diapers! My boyfriend and I have just recently started stocking up on diapers, so far we have 2 newborn to 10lbs packages containing 42 diapers in each. Curious on what you ladies have started out with or have gone thru with your little one? I was thinking something like 6-10 packages of the newborn ones...ya I have no idea cuz I'm a first time mommy! Also, I know that you can never really put an exact number on it cuz every baby is different, I'm just looking for an idea! Thank you much in advance!!

My little one was 9lb 4oz born so i only got through 1 pack of newborn size so within a week he was into size 2 and even that only lasted a few weeks, he's been on size 3 now and i expect him to be in that size for a while as they go upto 20lb. I have unopened packs of newborn nappies in the cupboard so I wouldn't stock up until baby is born and you get an idea of their initial weight and weight gain.

My son stayed in size 2's forever. He weighed 8lbs14ozs when he was born so he basically only wore newborns until his stump fell off. Plus keep in mind hospitals will send you home with a pack of newborns too. We're stocking up and i've bought 1 smallish box of newborns and a box of 1's and a box of 2's. I think that if people give them to you, they'll mostly give you newborn to size 2's. Buying size 3's would probably helpful too.

I would buy more size 1's and 2's. With my first I bought tons of newborns only for him to come out weighing 9lbs! So I had to give away all my newborn diapers and buy size 1 and 2. Its totally your decision though, your mommy :). With this one, on the other hand, I have not bought newborns for her. I am sticking to size 1 lol. Good luck and hope this helps!

With my daughter we had a diaper/wipes baby shower (everyone brought diapers or wipes instead of clothes, even though some still bought clothes) My daughter stayed in newborn until she was 5 months old...using 32+ diapers a day until 3 months , she has a very small waist and bottom, then size 1 until she was 9 months...using about 20+ diapers a day (we ec'd her part time), then size 2 until 1 when she was potty trained. I would say you need about 400 newborn to size 1 diapers...With this next baby I'm cloth diapering and I only need to make 40+ diapers. I didn't go by the weight at all, I went by how they fit.

Like the others said it really just depends on how big the baby is...my lil guy is is 2 weeks old and I've probably gone through close to 150 NB diapers(he was 7 lbs 13 oz when he was born) and at the rate he's going he'll probably move into 1's as soon as we run out of the NB's.

Personally I would get more 1's than NB because you never know how long baby will be in the NB's...I do like the idea though of putting the receipt with the pack just in case you do need to move up to the next size before you use all of the smaller size

hope this helps :)

It does depend a lot on the size of the baby. But I do know in the beginning you will change an average of 12-14 diapers a day... so definitely stock up. Jhansen's idea of keeping the receipt for returns if baby outgrows them is a good idea!

It really just depends on how big the baby is. Mine were in them for a while, my biggest was 5.15lbs. However, if you are stocking up tape the receipt on the package and if the baby outgrows them return and get the next size up.

I honestly don't remember how many we went through with my dd, but it sure felt like a lot! My guess is you'll probably need more newborn ones. Also diapers.com is a great place to get diapers for cheaper! Best wishes!

Hi. my baby is 6 weeks old and i am still using newborn. i have gone through roughly 200+ nappies in that size so far and i will definitely be using newborn for at least 4 more weeks.
i bought 2 packets in size 2 last week but just to have. i just buy them when they are on offer.
my baby was 6lbs5 when born and weighs 8lbs5 now and the nappies still seem a bit big on her.
i suggest you buy enough for the first week so you dont need to leave your house. plus you have your partner to go out and buy them if need be.

you use a lot in the beginning but now i just change my girl at feeds (6 x a day) and if i need to in between
