Q: When did you need/want to start wearing maternity pants/jeans?

I am almost 6 weeks pregnant and so bloated that it hurts to try and go the day with my regular jeans and pants buttoned up tight. Then, after I eat...all holy heck breaks loose and I am extremely uncomfortable. I went out and bought 2 pairs of maternity jeans (skinny and bootcut) with full panels and I IMMEDIATELY felt so much better.

Is a little under 6 weeks too early to start switching my pants over to maternity?

When did everyone else start to feel uncomfortable in their regular pants/jeans?

There is no such time bound in relation to start of wearing maternity wear. In 6 weeks or after this time many starts wearing maternity clothes. If you feel better in maternity jeans then there is hardly matter, you have to see your comfort,

I switched to elastic waist pants (not full panel) around week 13 or so. I didn't really have a bump, but I had a lot of bloating at first, and regular pants put WAY too much pressure on my pelvis/lower abdomen.

Just don't go crazy and buy lots of maternity clothing just yet-- you have a lot more growing to do, and you'll probably be fine with 1 or 2 pairs of jeans and a couple pairs of non-maternity yoga pants; most of your prepregnancy shirts should be fine until your second trimester.

Hi, i started wearing maternity jeans at nearly 8weeks.... the best ones are the ones with the thinner, softer support band at the top so that it can fit you for longer and wont dig into ur belly when you get bigger.... HandM do some good ones xx

I bought a belly band about a week ago. Works great because I the rest of my body can still fit into my pants!

Hi there!! I'll be 14 weeks tomorrow and I've been getting really uncomfortable in my regular pants for the last 3 days or so. I think I'll go buy a pregnancy band to wear over my regular pants for a while (without buttoning them). If you feel uncomfortable, make a plan and dont worry!! Every woman is different!!

At 13/14 weeks I started to dread going to work because my clothes were so uncomfortable - so I went out and bought some leggings in a size larger than I am (quite affordable, plus I thought I can wear them after I have given birth... hopefully!) and this worked for a while. I did buy some maternity trousers but they just hang off me and are really uncomfortable... I started feeling like a 3 year old with her pants falling down around her ankles. :-)

The leggings (actually, I believe they are known as 'treggings' in this weird world of fashion that we live in) were loose enough to get me through the next 3 weeks without spending oodles of money.

:-)

Do whatever makes you comfortable! I can tell you though that the bloating gets better, mine went away completely around week 10. I am still wearing my pre-pregnancy pants but have just started using the rubber band method to give me a little more room (if not for that I'd probably be in maternity pants by now).
