Q: Does this sound like pre-labor?

Hi ladies! I'm back with another question.

Went back to the doctor yesterday, I'm still 2 cm dilated but now I'm 80% effaced. When I got up from the table to put my undies back on, there was blood and discharge all over the table, so my doc put me on a monitor for about 40 minutes. Baby is fine, but I was definitely having sporadic contractions. She checked me again with no change, but sent me home and said I could be in pre-labor and to just prepare if it got more intense.

Well, ever since, I've been getting random tightness/slight pain throughout my belly a couple to a few times an hour. It's not super painful but uncomfortable. Also accompanied by back pain and menstrual-like cramps. This morning I also wiped after using the bathroom to find a very large (bigger than a quarter) clump of very gelatinous goop, with blood in it. Mucous plug? Does this sound like pre-labor to any of you mamas?

Woot! sounds like part of your plug. Also sounds like early labor. BH's are usually irregular so if you are getting regular pains or tighteness that starts from your back and radiates to the front, it won't be long now!

Sounds like you're just around the corner from having the baby! I was 2cm dialated, at 50% effaced, and the Dr kept me and induced me with the cervical gel. I'm surprised they let you go! Certainly sounds like some of your plug as well- best of luck! I'll be watching for your birth announcement in a few days ;)

That def sounds like your mucus plug and I'd say labor will be right around the corner if you are getting menstrual type cramps and the tightness wraps around your back as well, just keep you eye on them and relax...you will do great, I have had 4 kids and have one on the way...what you are describing sounds like early stages of labor!

Uh, yes!! That can very well be your mucous plug! With my first pregnancy (and now almost 10 year old son), that was exactly how my labor started with him on a Friday night.....he was born the next night (Saturday)! I walked around 70% effaced and 2cm dilated for 5 weeks....and my son was born at 37 weeks....7 pounds even, 20 inches long. Healthy as can be.

Best of luck to you!!!

Yes, sounds like pre-term, early stage labor, and it sounds like it was triggered by your internal exam. Good luck, and remember, don't get scared, it makes the contraction pain worse... embrace those contractions no matter what ;)

I have not had a baby, but it definitely sound like you lost your mucus plug and it sounds too like it definitely could be pre-term labor. Good luck hun, so excited for you.

I haven't been at risk for anything, I've had a super boring pregnancy. She did the Group B strep test at 35w3d and told me if I wanted her to, she'd go ahead and check me because I was going out of town for the weekend that afternoon. Well, I was already 2 cm dilated, much to her surprise. Then fast forward to Monday and I was 2 cm dilated and 80% effaced! Plus all of the other things going on with me lately.
