My first was about 9lbs. and I had him just fine, my secone I had to have a c-section because they needed to get him out early due to him haveing gastroschisis. And let me tell ya...csections are just not the way to go, for one I normally leave the hospital and have lost 15+ lbs but with him I only lost the 5 lbs he was. Then the pain is horrible, and when they are cutting you open you can feel them inside of you, worst feeling ever! Then the recovery time is much longer. If you have already pushed a baby of that size thru, then you should be more than fine. :) Good luck either way!

Hi!!! I would do it vaginally!! 9lb isn't that big!!! And like looney said, you were designed to give birth naturally!! Don't worry about tearing, if it happens it heals fast, much quicker than the cut from c-section anyway! Good luck!!

I was very thin and under weight with my first. The Dr told me he wouldn't be more then 7.5lbs but when he was born he was 9lbs! I did great though, it was a typical vaginally healing, only a few stitches. I think it depends on your body. I would try vaginally personally, it gives you amazing confidence to you know you delivered a 9lbder vaginally. Your Dr should be able to tell you if your body can handle it too. Good luck :)

I have had 3 sections, I am due my 4th baby in feb and I am allowed to try a vbac, they did say I wouldnt be allowed if they believe the baby to be big, but they told me like when they say that they mean about 11lb which is rare anyway.

I agree, I always hear women talking about how the doctor told them their baby would be "this big" and they always come out smaller then the doctor thinks. I kind of *eye roll* when people talk about their in-utero babies weight, because all a doctor can do is make a guess really, but for some reason people believe it to be the holy grail of truth, ya know?

As far as tearing, it doesnt always happen, but is more likely to happen in a hospital, with an epidural, laying on your back. And if it does... your vagina will heal up just fine, and it will be just fine. You dont want a c-section. they are horrible, and painful, and they ooze, and puss, and can get infected, and they are painful, it's a lot worse then vaginal childbirth, even if you tear.

You need to regain some faith in your body, and your ability to birth. Don't let doctors or western culture scare you. You were made for this. You will do great, if you have faith. :)

My midwife says the size of the baby has very little to do with the type of labour you will have. And i really wouldnt believe the size, often they are wrong. I have heard of women who were told they were having big babies and the babies are much smaller.
