Q: Repeat anatomy ultrasound

So I had my anatomy u/s last week and we were able to see that she is a girl, her feet, hands and profile, but since she was on her tummy, no good view of the heart. I just got a call from my OB's office that I need a repeat ultrasound because they couldn't see the heart, nose and lips. The lady who called said "There is 'probably' nothing to worry about, it was just baby's position" and that someone will call to make an appt for another u/s about 4 weeks out . . . now I am paranoid. Am I crazy? Should I just relax? I thankfully have an appt this coming Tuesday, but now I just feel worried something could be wrong.

I had my gender u/s on the 29th and i'm having a girl as well. She was being stubborn and kept moving so i have to go back at the end of dec from them to check her rate and spine but its nothing to worry about

Thanks ladies, I am just anxious and your words of encouragement are very helpful! My mom is coming to visit for the next week, so I should be busy going shopping for baby stuff (lots of pink!).

Sounds to me like it is just about positioning....what would put my mind at ease is that they are happy for you to wait 4 weeks to do another scan...if they were worried they would be rushing you back in i would think....I think it sounds like you have a lovely bub in there (who is a bit cheeky for not showing their face :) ) and they just want another look to make doubly sure all is a-ok - try not to stress and just enjoy this time :)

Same thing happened to me. We went and everything was fine. It is a good thing that they are doing this to make sure all is well--do not stress. They have to say "probably" to cover their butts in case something is wrong. They really have no reason to think that there is- they just could not see her heart (a very important part to make sure is doing well)! Enjoy your weekend and go buy something cute and pink!

If she is turned facing back they cannot get a good view of those things they listed. I would not worry about it they will bring you back in and check everything again and hopefully the little one will cooperate this time!

I wouldn't worry yourself. I know its hard not to. I had a u/s at 16 weeks to check for certain problems and the baby was sitting cross legged and facing away from us. I hate having to wait so long in between appointments it just freaks us out. My next u/s is on 12/2/11 and I think I will worry until then. I guess this is the start of the mothers worries.

The exact same thing happened to my sister-in-law and everything was fine. Try not to stress.
