Q: I need help with trying to induce labor

Has any body tried castor oil to induce labor? I am so ready for this baby to come out but I wanna make sure it is safe to take castor oil. My husband wont have sex with me due to being so so close to deliver. Can any one help with inducing labor?

My sister tried this without her doctor telling her it was okay and CPS was at the door after delivery because castor oil is really bad for baby with the first bowel movement in the womb and whatnot. I really do think that you should try the other forms. Much healthier and most likely tastes so much better. lol And just an FYI, the cps thing may have only been in Idaho where she lived. I don't know about the other states.

I read that in addition to giving you diarrhea, it can cause the baby to have the first bowel movement while still inside you, which can cause a ton of complications and make both you and baby very sick. I would avoid the castor oil and go with some of the other ideas offered. When I am about 35 weeks, I am planning to start using Red Raspberry Leaf tea to help tone the uterus, Evening Primerose Oil to help thin the cervix, and doing pretty much everything that OurMiracle lists in her comment! Stairs, driving over railroad tracks, walking up hills, bouncing on a birthing ball, stuff like that. I love spicy food, so I'm sure I will be eating plenty of it! Good luck!

I took castor oil with my recent pregnancy. Being in and out of the hospital for a week, then was told I had prolonged labor (not fun! Lol). I had enough! So I took it at 37weeks 6days, at about 5pm and my baby girl was born, healthy :), at 2:12am. No diahrrea, just full blown hard core labor. Almost didn't make the hospital, and had NO time for pain meds. But the healing was amazing, so it was all worth it! I don't think it works if your not ready, but no harm in trying ;) Good luck girl!

i took castor oil yesterday afternoon at 3:00. i had diarrhea but it really wasnt that bad. by 9pm i was having alot of backache and contractions. i thought i was actually going into labor but it faded away by 1am. i had a dr appointment this morning and im 3cm dilated! so i guess it did something, just not full on labor.

castor oil worked for my first baby, i didnt get the runs, but went into labor about 6 hours later. i tried it twice so far with this pregnancy and no luck :( i guess your body really does have to be ready for it to work.

Sex has always started labor for me - unintentionally. Id never take Castor Oil, but I'm weird, I kinda don't like the idea of crapping all over the place during labor, so taking something that would give me the runs and maybe start labor sounds like a complete disaster as far as im concerned. LOL

I have a list of things you can try but your baby will come when babys ready! You can try eating lots of fresh pineapple, black licorious, drink red rasp leaf tea (i am starting this at 34 weeks to help tone uterine to help with labor later), EPO, climbing stairs, walking, jumping jacks, stimulate your nipples, spicy foods, and apply accupressure to your ankles... I was also told if you go to a spa and get a nice foot massage with your pedicure sometimes they can help with inducing labor. Goodluck!! If you try any of this and it works please message me and let me know :)
