Q: Baltimore Hospital Delivery Choices: Mercy or Johns Hopkins?

Thinking a little ahead here, just because where I deliver will influence which OB I choose: Does anyone know how Johns Hopkins Birthing Center compares with Mercy's?

I know Johns' Hopkins is slightly newer, having just opened this spring, and the hospital itself has a stellar reputation. On the other hand, I've seen how my mom was treated at Mercy for breast cancer and was very impressed by the doctors as well as the bedside manner of the nurses. Their birthing facility is new too, only about 2 years or so.

Mercy's website gives far greater detail and images about the environment, they have big rooms and windows in each private room and they have couches in the rooms for SOs to sleep on if needed.

Johns Hopkins has eat-on-demand room service so you're not tied to a schedule, and SOs can overnight, though I'm spotty on their sleeping arrangements.

Each hospital allows the baby to stay by the mother at all times.
