Q: Vacation and morning sickness in Las Vegas?

I am going for a week to vegas, I am worried I will end up in my hotel sick every day as I am only 9 weeks and worried I won't be able to enjoy the sites. Are there any traveling tips you have? Are there things at buffets to avoid? Are there certain shows that are loud or bright lights that made nausea worse?

I went to Peru when I was 9-12 weeks pregnant. I didn't have any morning sickness, just some nausea, so I wore Sea Bands (got them at Target) and made sure I had motion sickness medicine with me just in case. I climbed to Machu Picchu and the Sun Gate. Its my proudest moment! :) I think in Vegas you have to be prepared for LOTS of walking, so make sure you get some good shoes first. Dealing with blisters every day would be terrible. Also make sure you are drinking LOTS of water. I'm also from AZ so I agree that the smoke is a huge annoyance when there, but since you are only going to be there for a little while I doubt it will greatly impact your baby. Its not like living with a smoker! When you get home from vaca, plan time to sleep. Hubby & I were in bed by 7pm for at least a week after getting back! Good luck and have a great time!

if you have enough time to see your doctor before you go, and if you've already been experiencing morning sickness, you could get a prescription for ondansetron. It's the cheaper version of Zofran. It comes in little dis-solvable tablets that you take either once every 12 hours, or when you're feeling sick. I LOVE them. Plus, no harmful side effects for the baby. :) Have fun!!

I did a week in Chicago when about 8weeks, my husband went on Business trip and I tagged along.

I needed naps, every afternoon to survive, this was easy enough to do since my husband was working during day. I found a place by hotel that became my comfort food and ate most all my meals there while my husband was working...we were more adventurous when he was free to explore.

Morning sickness hit a few times, but always once back at hotel and like at home life continued after!

The plane rides were fine.

Really I would say the key thing is factoring in that you will be slower and need more rest than typical. If you plan for that you can survive and have fun if you try to pretend you are not pregnant and go full steam you will likely crash halfway into the trip!!

The biggest thing to avoid in Vegas is the cigarette/cigar smoke. I live in AZ and there's pretty much no smoking indoors anywhere, so it's always a big physical adjustment when I go (quite often!) to Vegas. If you're used to it, might not be a big deal. The shows are a MUST but all are loud and flashy, except for some of the stand-up stuff and maybe some magicians. Love Jersey Boys!! Always love any of the Cirque Du Soleil shows & La Reve at the Wynn, but those would be the hardest to watch if you're concerned about visuals making you motion sick.
Make sure the buffet itself looks appetizing (the one at Planet Hollywood is great) and I would stick with the freshest, most unaltered food (so that you aren't surprised by unknown ingredients).
I don't yet have any morning sickness, this is just Vegas advice.
Definitely visit the new Aria Hotel/Casino - it's gorgeous!! There's so much to see and do that hopefully it will take your mind off of feeling sick!
HAVE FUN!!! So jealous!

No seafood/ fish wih mercury and cold cuts need to be warmed up enough that they are steaming. Try buying sea bands to help with travel. Good luck mama!
