Q: Bigger than expected baby

I had my 2nd ultrasound yesterday, which according to my midwife was 20weeks and 6 days, however they said my baby was more likely 23weeks and a few days. I know this can't be right as my partner was in afghan at the time it would have taken to conceive therefore bubs can only be a whopper.

Has anyone experienced similar and is this normal? I've been called back for a second scan in a couple of weeks just to double check dates, but to be honest i am getting a little worried.

Thanks girlies, well the good news so far is that i'm showing negative for pre-eclampsia and gestational diabetes so i guess i might just get my own pool started!

Same thing for me as Sasha! They even had a pool going amongst all the nurses during delivery...they expected an 11 pounder based on ultrasound. He was 8.7 and a week overdue! Not to worry. I'm sure they'll do a glucose tolerance test to see if you have gestational diabetes which can often lead to "whoppers" but I seriously wouldn't worry.

With my last baby they kept telling me he was going to be over 10 pounds and he ended up being only 7.8. Measurements can be off by quite a bit so honestly i wouldn't worry about it to much. Most likely you will have a normal sized baby!
