Q: Okay ladies, give me words of encouragement not to cheat!

So, I have my anatomy scan in less than a week. I reeeally don't want to know the sex as I found out with my first pregnancy and with this being our last child I would LOVE to know what it feels like to be totally, 100% surprised on delivery day. What I need now is other ladies who have waited or are planning to wait to help me stick to my guns. I know when I get there I'm gonna want to know even though I know I will regret finding out later. Was it easy for the rest of you to wait?

With my youngest 12 years ago I was devastated we weren't able to find out and I pestered my midwife and she finally told me at 38 weeks...now it's common and free to find out I'm adamant I'm not going too...
So be strong xx

When do you tell them you don't want to know? When you schedule or when you get there? My dad is coming out for our gender reveal party so we can find out with our family and I am worried the tech will give it away. I'm going to have to make sure my husband doesn't state what he wants in case she has a bad poker face!
Anyway if you can tell them when you schedule then that might help. Treat it like it's a final decision that can't be changed. If you have to tell the tech when you get there, write it down on paper that you don't want to know. It will feel like more of a commitment that way.

We're going to wait. Everyone tells me it's going to be hard (including my doc), but I don't think so. I am actually worried I might accidently find out early. I LOVE surprises. I don't even like movie previews!! But it is driving some of the in-laws speechless and crazy. Maybe that's partly why I like it ;) Not only do I want to hear "It's a _____!!!" but I also am not a hyper-gender person. Although I think it's cute, I don't WANT to do all pink or blue nursery/accessories/clothes/etc. If I found out, I would be STRONGLY ENCOURAGED to go over the top with that stuff, and this way I can avoid it entirely. But truly - I think the surprise will be incredible and fun for everybody. I'm taking predictions now and might make a game out of it.

Thanks ladies:) Ktk, I swear I'm having a boy too lol. Ultimately I could care less if its a boy or a girl but i would be lying if I said I wan't leaning more towards girl, hehe (my son wasn't a sister too). babyspraker- I like the guessing too, but the wives tales are messing with my head, got to stop reading into them lol.

I'm not finding out either. I believe that there are so few surprises in life anymore and I want this to be one of them. For me, it hasn't really bothered me much. I'm not a type A person, though, so the planning aspect of it isn't an issue. I think its more fun to have people guessing and seeing what 'wives tales' come true.

I didn't find out with my first and don't plan on finding out with this one either. It drove my mom crazy! lol but I loved it. Ultimately it doesn't matter if it's a boy or girl, we'll love it no matter what, and I'm not a huge fan of wardrobes made entirely of pink and blue. I loved being surprised when I finally had my baby and they said "It's a girl" (I swore I was having a boy)

We just had our 20 week ultrasound and worried about the same thing. The moment we entered the room we told the ultrasound lady and we did NOT want to know what the babys sex was, that we knew the difference between a boy and a girl and that we would only look when she told us to. SO the first few seconds she put the wand on my belly we didn't look in case the babys parts where right there. And when she had to do umbilical cord measurements she had us look away til she said it was safe to look. We had a really hard time right before the ultrasound cuz we wanted to know, but we knew we would be disappointed with ourselves for not getting the birth surprise. But just keep reminding yourself that the surprise at the end will be sooooo fun!

I told my dr I didn't want to find out when he started talking about the anatomy scan and when we went in for the ultrasound, we told the tech we didn't want to know and she said NO PROBLEM and didn't even go to that area. For us, its been easy not to find out. I will admit that it kinda makes it a little inpersonal referring to our baby as it!

Everyone is so upset with us not finding out because of clothes. .really? How silly!
