Q: Anyone wearing a pregnancy bandage?

So, my mom wore bandages, good old Soviet Union ones, prenatal and postnatal, and was able to avoid stretch marks. Pregnancy bandages are very common in Eastern Europe (where I grew up). Here in the U.S. doctors say nothing about them... WHY? If you are wearing one or was recommended one by your doctor, please comment! :) Thanks!

The truth is if your going to get stretch marks your going to get them, you cant prevent them as its all about the elasticity in your skin. You can reduce the appearance with oils etc but thats about it xx

I don't personally have one or wear one, but my friend did her last pregnancy. It was recommended to her by her midwife, not her doctor, but it didn't really help with stretch marks. She still had a ton of them. So I guess maybe it does have more to do with genes than anything else.

I have never heard of a "pregnancy bandage". You have me quite curious, and I am going to have to look that up. Everything I have ever read about stretch marks, and every Doctor I have ever asked about stretch marks have all said the same thing. They all said that is has to do with your genes. They said that no amount of lotion or oils can prevent them, it just helps with itching. I would be very interested to read other information about it related to the pregnancy bandage if it is available.

That is what I'm trying to figure out as well. I'm sure you can buy anything online, like Amazon :) haha. I think doctors do know about them though, they just keep it a secret? lol I want to find out where I could buy them here and what places are the best. Also, you need to be able to know how to put them on correctly so they work properly. But yeah, I hope someone here will shed the light on this subject in the U.S. If we'll end up going back to Europe this Fall I'll get one there easily. But anyways, I wish more women had known about them here!
