Just like the other comments have said, I too experienced mild to moderate cramping (even sharp stabbing pain at times) especially in the first 5 - 10 weeks. What to Expect When You are Expecting says that as long as the cramps aren't accompanied by bleeding (not spotting) that the cramps are normal. Your uterus is expanding which is actually very similar in nature to the shedding it does every month during a period. Although your baby is still itty-bitty, your uterus is swelling very large to make room for it :)
Hope this helps.

yes, I would say it's normal. I've heard of women who have similar sensations as pms around the time their period would be due for the first few months of pregnancy. Also it's possible that it's a coincidence about it being around when your period would have been due since the symptoms you are describing are very normal for being 7 weeks preg. You baby is growing and your uterus is getting bigger, which is putting pressure on all sorts of places it wasn't before :) Happy Pregnancy!
