Q: Cigarettes and pregnancy

I have been having a hard time keeping my temper under control since I have quit smoking. What were some of the things you did to help stay away from cigarettes? Lately my anxiety has been so intense (from being hormonal and not having any nicotine) and the more stressed and anxious I get, the more I want a cigarette. My doctor had suggested that I wean myself from cigarettes and I did that for a bit and now I'm done, but I need a little a support or suggestions on how to stay away. How did you break the nasty habit and keep it broken?

i smoked during previous pregnancy(about 5 a day) and luckily i had a very healthy little boy.. but with this one i quit cold turkey almost as soon as i found out.. it wasnt easy by any means and the first 3 days i was a mess and not fun to be around but i just keep saying my kids need me healthy, this baby needs me healthy, i want this baby healthy...even though its only been a couple weeks for me now i still get the urge every once in a while but i just remind myself of why i quit in the first place and think of how much better i feel already!! good luck, you can do!!!

Well this will be one of the hardest thing that you will do during your pregnancy.but you are doing extremely well for the fact that you have quit completely this early. Try to remember that you are doing this for your baby. You are stronger than you think. Some will never be able to do what you did, and this doesnt mean that they are bad mothers, circumstances and a will that isnt that strong will contribute to them not to be able to. Stay strong, and keep reminding yourself it is something you have to do. Dont go back not even one. And talk about what you feel no matter what it is.
