I had this with both of my pregnancies and I have it with this baby. They gave me the antibiotics 3 times every 4 hours and everything was fine. My babies came out normal with no complications. Dont worry and dont stress out.

Ah, the internet can be a scary place can't it? With testing and treatment the risk of baby contracting GBS is 1 in 2000 according to the book I'm reading right now. Your doctor will make sure he reduces risk as much as possible and all should be well. You'll get an IV at the hospital but other than that nothing will be different. At my birthcenter they don't even do continuous, you get a saline lock and do a 15 minute or so treatment of antibiotics ever 4-6 hours until birth.

I was positive Group B with my first. As soon as my water broke I was put on anti-biotics through an I.V and nothing more came of it. It didn't cause me any trouble. It didn't cause early labour , I actually had a 27 hour Lon labor. If you don't get the anti-biotics in time that's when it's not good. As soon as your water breaks or your labor is in full swing, go to the hospital :)

Hello !
I had gbs and delivered my baby girl 3 weeks ago. It's nothing to worry about at all :). I was induced with my labor so once I was given Pitocin* they started giving me the antibiotic through my iv. I received about two bags of it before I delivered. I delivered Thursday at 6:53 and was released Saturday morning.

I had it but was having a planned c-section due to breach baby. However I didn't notice my waters were slowly leaking at 37 weeks and I had to have an emergency section instead and my little man had to have the antibiotics introvenously which was heartbreaking as he was quite small at 5lb10 and they couldn't find a vein. The pros weigh out the cons with the antibiotics as a friend of my neices had a baby die from GBS caused meningitis.
