Q: 8 weeks pg after a previous mc...will I know it's coming if it happens again?

When I had a mc in Nov. I def. knew something was wrong. I spotted off and on and had cramping. I lost my baby at 6.4 weeks. Everything seems great with this pregnancy. I had good hcg levels at the beginning, the baby is growing well, and the heart beat is great. However, I keep reading about these women that have a mc at 10 weeks or a little more. I was wondering with me being 8 weeks now, would I know by now that something is wrong if it is, or does it just come suddenly when your further along?

I was in the same boat. I have two healthy children with no problems during pregnancy, then I get pregnant a 3rd time and went for appt. at 11 wks and there was no heartbeat. I had my d&c a week later (Nov '10). I found out I was pregnant again in April and was as worried as you are...I think that is normal after you have suffered a m/c before. I had a little subchronic hemmorage that caused me to spot sometimes but it went away and the dr. wasn't worried. I also had 3 ultrasounds in my 1st trimester b/ I was so worried all the time. Once I hit that 13 week mark and once they heard the hb on the doppler in the office...I was much more relaxed. I will be 19 weeks on Monday and I still worry sometimes. I rented a doppler that I use at home (bellybeats.com) and I love it. I got it at about 10 weeks and still have it. It has provided me with reassurance that all is okay many times over the last couple of months...it has been a Godsend! Just try to relax and enjoy your pregna

Thank you Ally. I am sorry to hear about your loss. Everything seems and feels fine and the heartbeat is great. I just have to focus on that like you said. I am happy for you and wishing you well on these last weeks of pregnancy! xo

Having suffered mc before similar to the same time period as yourself this pregnancy had me really worried, i was still doing hpt's up until my first scan just to make sure i still was pregnant. However i was told once you hit 8-10 weeks, depending on wether you count from date of conception or date of last period, that this is the time when a doctor/midwife can hear the heartbeat and things are considered ok from there.

I won't lie to you, there is always the worry that something is going to go wrong, i'm almost 24 weeks now and if i don't feel the baby move for a day or two i find myself considering going to the chemist for a pregnancy test. But trust me, if you keep worrying then you're going to miss out on some really good things, try to relax and enjoy that things are going so well, thats what i did and so far everything has been smooth. Good luck to you x
