Doc told me i can stop at 12 weeks, but you do kinda take it your whole pregnancy since it is in most prenatal vitamins check the dosage in the prenatals and ask doc if you need to add abit more and adjust your dosage according to that eg prenatal has 400mcg you can take an additional 400mcg to get your full 800 mcg for the day, but check your prenatal vit if i does indeed have folic acid and the dosage it contains

You should never really stop taking it. At least continue to take folic acid until you are done nursing. It is actually recommended that all women that are in their reproductive years should take at least 400 mcg of folic acid daily. My ob recommends taking 800-1000mcg during pregnancy and nursing.

It doesn't hurt to keep taking it so you might as well. I take 400 a night, maybe reduce it to that?

You'll get different answers depending upon where others are from. Where I'm at it's advised you take it throughout pregnancy.

Where I am doctors recommend until the 12 weeks scan and then you can stop but obviously you will still get folic acid in your diet throughout the rest of your pregnancy :)
