Q: Hand-delivered baby shower invites....tacky?

We are having one combined baby shower, inviting 50 people from 5 sides of our families (both our parents are divorced) on top of my work friends. That's a lot in postage (the invites are 5x7), so I was wondering everyone's opinion on this....

Would it be tacky to hand-deliver the invites to my close friends at work? They would be sealed in an envelope with their names on the front...so I wouldn't just be handing them the invitation alone.

Tacky? Or cost-effective?

I agree, not tacky. I think hand delivered invites are very personal and sweet, we hand delivered our wedding invitations to everyone we could on purpose, and will do the same when it comes time for the baby shower!

I say cost effective! I'm in the same boat. We are having a big, coed baby shower and inviting everyone, family and friends at once. It turned out to be about 75 people! I decided to mail some of the invitations to the people that live farther away, and hand deliver the rest. I figure anyone that cares enough about me to come to my shower, won't care much about how they get the invitation. They all know money is tight for us and postage isn't cheap! It's your shower, do what works for you :-)

I don't think it would be tacky. I hand delivered mine for my first baby. It's how all of my friends do it.
