I'm with you on the hemorrhoids! I had a small tear, but the stitches healed before the hemorrhoids got better! It took me almost 3 weeks before they got better.

Congratulations! Pregnancies and childbirth vary so much and it is interesting to read the different experiences. I opted for a drug free childbirth and was only in labor for a few hours. I had a pretty average size baby (7lbs, 9.5 oz), but I tore, terrible. I tore all the way back to my rectum. Even my OB commented on the amount of stitches I had to have. I never had to experience hemorrhoids. Maybe if I had had them I would agree that they were painful, but in my experience, my tearing and stitches were 100% the most painful thing post partum. I think they hurt more than some of the contractions and pushing did! I had a couple of days where I couldn't sit, walk, stand, lay, or move. Obviously I was able to in reality, but it all hurt so much. I was afraid to poop for several days because I was afraid I would rip it all open; I didn't when I finally went. Glad you had a good experience!

internally; I did not tear in my perineum. If he hadn't gotten stuck, we don't think I would have torn at all. And while this may be TMI, this threw me for a loop. I had always thought the tearing and stitches would be the most painful part post-partum. FALSE. Maybe since they were internal my experience is different, but I've never had any pain from the stitches. The most painful part for me was dealing with the hemorrhoids! Holy crap, no one said anything about hemorrhoids from the delivery process! I only ever heard of having hemorrhoids during pregnancy, not from delivery! It makes sense, but it was the biggest surprise for me. It took about 12 days for them to go away; the first week was the most painful, requiring some Tylenol III and Motrin to deal with the pain. Now, almost 4 weeks later, I'm back at the gym running and other than lack of sleep from nighttime feedings...I feel great! No urinary or fecal incontinence, no pain and in 2 weeks we'll see how being "intimate&quo
