The castor oil is not recommended unless you love having diarrhea because that's all you're likely to get from it. As for having your membranes stripped, this is best left until you're really overdue as it's not that effective earlier on. Hang in there-your baby needs a little more time and will let you know when it's ready.

Don't do the castor oil! I tried it a week ago and spent the whole night on the toilet and still have no baby to show for it. My doc stripped my membranes on Monday and that caused me to lose my mucus plug but still no baby. It might work for you and its not too uncomfortable. ! hope we both get our girls very soon!

Castor oil is more likely to cause diarrhea & intestinal cramping than labor. As for having your membranes stripped, unless you're overdue, it is better to wait as it isn't as effective until after 40 weeks. A full term pregnancy can be up to 42 weeks. Some babies need those extra days in utero for final lung & brain development. Hang in there! Your little one will be here before you know it!

I heard that it can endanger your unborn so I'd stay away unless you want your baby to have a BM in utero.

I asked my ob about the oil one pregnancy and he said it works if your going to go into labor soon anyway otherwise you just end up with a bad case of diarrhea. But when your already uncomfortable desperate times...
