Q: What brand of bottle would you recommend if breastfeeding?

I know it's really up to baby to decide what he likes once he arrives, but I'm just looking for recommendation of bottle brands. I do plan to breastfeed. Also, do wideneck vs. standard make a difference with breastfeeding?

Madela just came out with the Calma bottle and it mimics breast feeding so baby will continue to take the breast even if you give them a bottle. It was engineered so that they have to do the same thing from the breast as from this new nipple.

I don't have any personal experience yet, since this is going to be my first baby, but my sister-in-law breastfeeds and LOVE Dr.Brown bottles. But it all depends on your little one, too... each baby is different and each prefer different types/shapes of nipples... you just have to find the right one for your baby would be my guess.

I used Avent ones last time and will be doing the same for this baby. My daughter only had colic a handful of times and would happily go back and fore between breast and bottle with no issues at all.

I have always used the Avent bottles with the manual breast pump. My kids loved them and had no issues going back and forth between their bottle nipples and the real thing :)

I loved my Avent bottles with my first so we're using them with #2. Few parts, never leaked, & worked great even though my first had horrible reflux. If you are going to breastfeed, you def want a wide based nipple so that the baby opens his mouth wide as if he was going to latch onto the breast. If he/she becomes accustomed to a standard nipple, he may end up rejecting the breast bc the bottle will be easier. You also want to make sure you use the slowest flow nipple for the same reason. Babies have to work harder at sucking from a human nipple, so if the bottle has an easier flow, the baby will naturally prefer the nipple that requires less work.

We used Dr. Brown's with my son and it helped cut down his gassiness. We are just now starting to give my daughter (2 months old) bottles. She isn't a fan, so we are trying out other brands. My son wasn't picky, so this is all new to me. I would love to hear what others say.
