When I was 7 weeks the Ultrasound tech could not find the sac so the ER DR rushed me to a High Risk Hospital by ambulance saying it was eptopic pregnancy in the tubes they really gave me a scare but my sonogram there said thesac was located in the right upper abdominal just high and I never saw the baby until 12 weeks this is my 8 th pregnancy and I'm 23 week today.

Also, just FYI, ultrasound techs are NOT allowed to diagnose you. Meaning, if they see something wrong, they are not allowed to tell you because they are not doctors, and they could be wrong. They are allowed to show you the baby, give you dates etc, but if there is a problem, they are supposed to refer you to the actual radiologist for the diagnosis. Telling you she didn't see a baby was a serious overstep on her part and someone needs to know about it. I've read many stories on here about women who were told by a tech there was nothing there, just to have the repeat u/s done by an actual radiologist and find out out there was a baby and the tech was wrong. Ultrasound techs are just that: technicians. Not doctors. They operate the machine, not treat patients.

That's happened to me twice. I had to do the d&c both times unfortunately, because my body just didn't get that there wasn't a baby there. My hcg levels were good both times too so that's not always an indicator either. Three weeks is a long time to wait to do a repeat ultrasound. If there is a baby hiding in there, you should be able to see it in another week or so. I would ask the dr about doing another u/s in a week or two, at most.

I would also complain about the tech and what she said about the previous patient. I used to be a medical assistant and comments about other patients, regardless of why they're saying it, is a big no no! Very unprofessional, and in many cases actually illegal. Not to mention what a blow to your moral it is to hear that "so and so looked so much better than you". I'm sorry you had to hear that from her. Talk to your dr and good luck!

This happened to us in 2007 around the same time (6-7 weeks). HCG levels rose and then started to drop and via ultrasound there was a healthy sac, but no baby inside. My doctor only waited about a week and then we made the decision to do a D&C. Blighted ovums can grow up to 12 weeks before the body will realize there is no baby inside....so you'll still grow and have symptoms, which is something I didn't want to go through and why I chose the D&C a week after our diagnosis.

I'm sorry the tech said that to you about the previous lady....she shouldn't have said that, no matter if she's right or wrong. I'd ask for a follow up ultrasound in one week....not three weeks. A lot happens in a week's time and if there is a baby growing, you'll be able to see it within a week.

Best of luck to you.

This happened to me last June. I went for an ultrasound when I was 7 weeks 3 days pregnant (and pretty sure as we had been using OPK to confirm ovulation). The ultrasound showed a sac but no baby and it was measuring 5 week 6 days. I started to bleed 3 days after the ultrasound and miscarried. I had lost all pregnancy symptoms but didn't realise this until after the event as my brother passed away two and a half weeks before my miscarriage and that took my mind off my pregnancy.

I know it's easier to say than do but try and keep positive.....you still have strong symptoms so hold on to that. Take care of yourself.
