It's probably difficult to get at 12 weeks. If I'm not mistaking they all start out as girls and as the weeks progress your babies genitalia will either go inside or grow outward...depending on what the baby will be. The normally can't fully know what the baby is until 20 weeks. So at 12 weeks I don't even think the process begins.

There is actually new technology that they use to be able to tell gender earlier. Our sonographer said our baby was a good candidate to use this based on the position. She was fairly sure-although still early. Not going shopping for pink quite yet, but fun to get an educated guess-GOOD LUCK!

You can all but try, but don't get your hopes up, and they say to never really count it as 100% conclusive until the birth anyway. But no harm in asking x

I doubt it. From what I have been told 16 weeks is about the earliest that they can tell the gender
