HI Jennavee,

I appreciate your comments however there are so many facts thrown out there some agreeing and some disagreeing with your theory. This to me is most likely one of the best photographs to tell the gender of a baby especially a boy. I am very confident that my OB knows what she is doing and a 80% is better than a 50%. However if she is not correct I will let you know ;) We are all agreeing on facts not the same ones as there are so many different ones. Any way this was not meant to turn nasty or into an argument was just curious and appreciate everyone's opinion. I go for my next scan on the 9th of may and I will be 17 weeks along. Excited to watch this lil baby grow :) H&H9 months to all you mommies :)

A well trained ultrasound tech will not "guess" gender, and will not determine gender from the view you posted. It is possible to determine from other views, just not that one. I'm sorry some people can't agree with facts.

Also, they don't have to tell you "50%", it's most definitely either a boy or a girl. No well trained ultrasound tech will give a percent guess. If you believe you can get a definite determination at 12 weeks, why not be confident in that and go out and buy pink or blue? Otherwise, you're proving that my point is valid, and that gender determinations at 12 weeks are just a GUESS.

Hi Ladies, Thank you all for sharing your stories and commenting. I really think its time to stop relying on google and listen to the PRO'S ;) The doc knows what she is doing. Some websites say yes you can at 12 weeks others say you cannot. I asked my doc how many times she has been wrong with Gender this early and her reply was not many. Keeping in mind she has been in the game of many years! Any way. I am happy either way pretty sure my son will be ever so happy to have a baby brother. Hugs to all. xxx

I'm not going to argue with you. They told me I was having a girl. You could see the 3 lines that are female. This was at a perinatologist so the machinery was high tech. They didn't say to me, "we are 50% sure it is a girl." They said it was a girl. At 12 wks, I certainly didn't go out & buy pink. However, I did a week later when the sex was confirmed with blood work. Most everyone I'm close with has been told the sex at 12 wks. So far, what they were told at 12 wks has held true. If these were just 50/50 guesses, I would think there would have been occasional errors. If the machinery is sophisticated enough, & the baby has clear genitalia (not all do), then they can give a pretty good indication.

When it comes down to it, it's still a 50/50 guess. At 12 weeks pregnant the baby is 10 weeks old, and as you can see from the pictures, they look the same (from the ultrasound view that Candy777 posted).

Not true. I found out I was having a girl at 12 wks 1 day & they didn't use the angle of the dangle theory. It was obvious to my untrained eye that I was having a girl as well. As my tech said, it all depends on the baby. Some have distinguishable genitalia at that stage & some do not. I agree with your Dr - looks like you're having a boy (but don't buy blue just yet)!

I posted a comment on the picture, but check out this link: http://www.baby2see.com/gender/external_genitals.html

It explains why gender can't really be determined that early by ultrasound unless you want to use the "angle of the dangle" theory.
