When he was born he pretty much had no palette in his mouth. Feeding was very difficult and he has had 5 surgeries to help build his palette plus plastic surgery to close the bilateral opening in his upper lip. He has really handled it well. He will still need more surgeries as he gets older to continue to correct the problem but he is 5 now and he never complains about it. I believe it helps that his mom had a cleft as well and knows how to deal with it. I don't know of any health problems he has had and his was pretty severe. Hopefully they will have good news for you at your appt. If they didn't mention it I think your probably okay :)

Thank you for your reply. I'm not sure what to think cuz she only stated that she couldn't see it. I see my ob tomorrow, hopefully he doesn't mention it as a possibility. Hows your nephew? I read that cleft lip can cause other problems?

My nephew was born with a bilateral cleft palate. By the 20 week scan it could be clearly seen on the ultrasound.
