From week 24ish until delivery I had two thrombosed (blood clots in them) purple hems hanging out....they were totally disgusting and extremely painful!
Here is what worked for me.....buy Witch Hazel (100% pure witch hazel) and cotton circular pads (the kind you take off eye makeup or makeup with). Take a ziploc baggie....place a few cotton pads in there and soak them with witch hazel. Place the baggie in the fridge. Let them get cool....and then lay on the couch on your left side and tuck one cold, soaked pad in your bum on the hems....lay there for 20 minutes letting the witch hazel soak in.
Also....keep another baggie in the bathroom (soaked witch hazel cotton pads) and wipe your hems with one pad every time you go to the bathroom (pee or poop).
Lastly, ice them!! Lay on your left side and stick some covered ice on them! (I placed ice cubes in a baggie and tucked the baggie in the crack!).
Mine went away within a few days of giving birth!

Mine never went away. Tried every remedy under the sun. Finally, my Dr had to lance them. That did the trick - they shrunk almost immediately.

Yes...I had them really bad after giving birth to my first son. They took longer to heal than the stitches!! It was miserable. I used Tucks Pads, Prep h, soaked in the tub, used sitz bath, etc. They finally went away after a little over a month. :-(
