Q: call from my doctor saying i need scan because she think it may be ectopic ?

iam 6 +1 today and went in to see the doctor yesterday for symptoms going away anyway she reassured me and said all was well and to relax, today the symptoms are back full force ...this morning she rings back and says there is a 1/10 chance my pregnancy is ectopic (sp) i had the copper coil fitted and it partially came out so they took it out completely 2 weeks later i had a positive test ( 5 in total), i ovulated late in last cycle and have irregular periods. i have major symptoms today , sickness , really tired and sore boobs among many other symptoms, i have no bleeding and just some mild cramps and pulling now and again. I have a scan in the morning to see whats going on , wouldn't i have had bleeding/spotting or cramping by now or anything if it wasn't in the womb/ thanks x :(

They say that those forms of contraception can be a cause of ectopic pregnancies but not a lot more of a chance then those without. It's still much smaller then that, in the UK its 1 in 90 and I think your dr may be taking a precaution but I'm with the others. I'm not sure why you've been given such dramatic odds and reaction without clear signs.

Why does she think it is ectopic? Did you have an ultrasound already?
