Q: HCG 1500, Bleeding, nothing shows in ultrasound

Hi,
According to my LMP, Iam 7 wks pregnant and started spotting brownish with no pain and went to the ER. they did an ultrasoung and saw nothing - no lining, no sac, no heartbeat. They said it was normal and suspected i was under 7 weeks. I was supposed to go for another scan 6 days later hoping to see something but when I got home, I started bleeding blood red like my periods, cramping backaches and abdominal on and off pains. Bareable ones like periods but scary. I went to the gynae the next day and did a u/s. Again nothing was found. Either I wasn't pregnant, I was losing my baby now or I was less than 7 weeks preg or Its an extopic pregnancy. My HcG is at 1500 so im pregnant for sure but its too low to show anything. Going for another blood test 2 days later but Im worried. What if the hcg is higher but they still dont see anything? Im worried. What if the hcg is up very slightly only? :(

You had a chemical pregnancy. I had one of these too. It just means that there was something wrong with the fertilized egg and your body naturally expelled it. I'm sorry for your loss. After my chemical, I conceived 2 weeks later. Good luck to you.

I got my Hcg results today..It's down to 200. One doc says I was never pregnant and another says it's an early miscarriage. Is it possible to be pregnant without seeing anything or was my periods just late because of the hormones inside of me?

* sorry it cut the link, I googled how fast does a gestational sac grow and clicked the brookside press link. Medical write ups can be a lot more helpful with how drs think. X

The sac should appear at 4 weeks growing 1mm a day and sould be visible after the hcg reaches 1500 at 5 weeks.
This is where I read for the info:
www.brooksidepress.org/products/OBGYN_101/mydocunents4/ultrasound/1st_trimester_ultrasound_scannin.htm

If they offer you a solution it wouldn't be an abortion just an evacuation but this is your choice. If you feel that they are not waiting long enough then ask for more time and another scan and they can advise you from there.
I will hope for the best outcome for you, fingers crossed and pm me if you wish to talk x

Thank you guys.. Im getting some hope. I honestly don't think im 7 weeks preg but the doctors think so based on the LMP. I cant argue as they know best. Im just worried that the hcg will be 3000 tomorrow and they still wont see a sac and theyll ask me to abort the child.. surely the sac cant grow in 3-4 days. But even at 5 weeks.. shouldnt they at least be able to see a lining? They can't see anything.

I kinda feel lighter after the bleeding but my bra still feels tight, I'm still burping.. so finger cross. I hope it's not me getting fat from not going to the gym

At 1500, the hcg isn't high enough to see really anything. When my hcg was 7000, all we could see was the sac and told sac, but no baby. It sounds like you are a lot earlier than you think. Probably less than 5 weeks. Are you sure on your ovulation date. Perhaps you ovulated 2 weeks later than you thought.

I'm sorry to read you are going through this. Until you get the next results though nothing is certain.

Its common they would have checked for ectopic while you were being scanned but if the bleeding becomes enough to fill a pad more than a heavy period go straight to AnE to be on the safe side.
It is very possible that your body thought it was pregnant hence the hcg but can sometimes start the miscarriage later on once it realises the pregnancy didn't take.
If the tests are higher but still there is nothing on your scan you may be offered a medical solution or go through the options of letting things progress naturally.

All this aside you won't know very much for a few days so look after yourself x
