Go see your Dr - it sounds like you might have mastitis which can make you quite sick. To dry up milk take 200mg of vitamin b6 (pyridoxine) every 8 hours for 10 days. Worked a charm for me and is quite a natural way to do it. They can also give you cabergoline. (Usually prescription only depending on your country)

I've heard that you should pump one time until you are comfortable then bind yourself as tight as you can stand it without hurting yourself. But only pump one time. Its a supply and demand kind of thing. I've always used ice packs for swelling, warm or hot water seems to make my milk come in harder and faster. I've always breastfed so I'm just going by what I've been told about the binding. Good luck! I know it's very painful.

I had to let mine dry up and they won't prescribe anything here anymore. I wrapped my chest tightly in ace bandage and that seemed to help. I agree with Tylers Mummy that the hot showers helped too. I will have to say I got a laugh out of looking like I should have been in Playboy for a couple of days.... lol

When I couldn't breastfeed my son, my doctor prescribed cabbage leaves and a beer a day! I also needed steroids.because of mastitis, but the cabbage and beer were for engorgment.

Hey I used cabbage leaves to help as I didn't breast feed and it really did work for me. I had hot showers to let them leak out. My mum and sister used cabbage leaves as well and it worked for them. Some people believe it works and some people don't. You just have to find what works with you.
