Q: First ultrasound at 4 weeks? Is it damaging?

DH is totally against having 1st ultrasound this time. My clearblue digital taken last week said I am 2-3 weeks. But according to this site, based on my ovulation date I am 4 weeks and 5 days. So confusing.

!st time TTC and I am very excited to see if everything is ok. But DH is soooo saying no. He wants to wait till least 8 weeks to 12 weeks for 1st ultrasound. I am not sure if I can contain my excitement that long. So far, v didnt see any doc yet. None of the family members know and this is NOT my 1st pregnancy but my 2nd one after 5 yrs of having my naturally conceived twin girls. I had a bad bad MC 5 yrs ago ard 11 weeks when my girls were 8 mths old n coz that that I am worried n paranoid. Whats your advise here?

Thank you lovely ladies for sharing your answers. Hearing your feedback confirms that I should wait for another few more weeks.
My last pregnancy I had an internal ultrasound inserted. But that was almost 6 yrs ago.
Other than the TTW, this wait before the 1st ultrasound is so much scarier.
Thank you Sianny on your feedback on the CBlue digital. So I can follow this site to calculate how many weeks I am? Then I should 4 weeks and 5 days now.

I highly doubt any dr would so a scan at 4 weeks unless they were concerned about ectopic.. You are highly unlikely to see anything on a scan much before 7 weeks so no point until then

I would wait until at least 7 weeks, then you will know if you have a viable pregnancy, as you will be able to see a hb then. 4 -5 weeks is too early. You will only see a gestational sac. I would listen to your DH and wait a bit.

This early you might not see a fetal pole and it's highly unlikely to see a heartbeat. Not seeing that beating heart or little growing bean means you'll still be anxious until you go again and maybe even again after that.
The longer the wait the more you'll know so the better you'll feel.

CBDigis don't include the weeks before ovulation where as your LMP date considers you pregnant before you've even finished your period.
Drs use the LMP to keep it simple at an average 28 days.
