Q: Wrong Dates, Will I miscarry?

So, I took a HPT around 7/20 and got a positive result. I went In to the doctor on 8/18 expecting to be around 8 weeks along. Instead doctor saw a gestational sac and yolk sac but no baby and said I was measuring less than 5 weeks. I thought for sure I would miscarry, but when I went to the doctor on 8/29 the doctor saw a gestational sac, yolk sac AND a fetal pole with a flicker. She said I was measuring around 5 weeks 6 days.

I am so confused, the dates do not match up at all. I go back again Wednesday for another scan to see what's happening.

Does anyone have any idea what could be happening? TIA

That sounds about right, some women get a positive result as soon as 7 days after conception(ovulation)! Sounds like you were one of the early ones(I got mine at 9). When I got my positive result I was 3 weeks 5 days. Don't stress, you're right on track and congrats, yay!

It doesn't mean you shall miscarry. We as woman don't know exactly when we conceive, if your baby started off as a sac and yolk than the baby with a flicker (heartbeat) than you are all good.

I found out I was pregnant at 2 weeks and had a scan 3 weeks later at 5 weeks they seen a yolk sac with sac and than a week later 6 weeks saw a baby and heartbeat and I am now 14 weeks :) Hope all goes well and good luck.

Without knowing ovulation dates and how many days past that you took a test everything this early on is guesswork based on the 'avarage woman' which is why dating scans are normally done a lot later because they are a lot more accurate.
I'm afraid all you can do is keep calm and wait till the picture (and baby) gets a little bigger.

Sounds like you got a positive right after you got pregnant. If there is a HB, then I wouldn't worry about it. Congrats!
