Q: When is morning sickness considered too much?

Hi ladies -

This is my fourth pregnancy but the previous three have all been losses. I never really experienced many symptoms previous times - this one is definitely different.

I've been experiencing all day nausea since Friday. I have a hard time keeping anything down - including water - most of the time. I do get windows where I can eat a few crackers or plain pasta, and keep down ginger ale. Is this normal or should I call my specialist? I don't want to bother them if it's normal...

It does sound fairly normal but your dr should be able to prescribe you medications to help. I have hyperemesis and for me I was vomiting 15-30 times a day.. Couldn't stomach any food or fluid, none of the medications helped at all.. Had 6 hospital admissions.. Lost 15lbs and at 34 weeks I am still struggling to keep anything at all down.
Go with what your body feels like food/ drink wise. For me it's usually diet coke (works quite well for nausea) and whatever food I think I can manage at the time.. Carbs are better than anything else and I avoid veggies as the make everything worse.. As does excessive liquid. Hope you get on top of it soon!

Always pop to see them as they are better at being able to see if you are hydrated enough and getting enough nutrients. I went because I just couldn't function on a day to day basis.

Up to the point where they insist on hospitalizations it's up to you if you make use of the anti sickness tablets. I tried 4 tyoes before I find the right one for me.
I found them a lifesaver and meant no hospital but don't worry if you lose some weight during this time as long as you've been to the drs they will monitor that. It will do no harm to baby as he/she doesn't need that right now. Fluid is the biggy.
I lost 10lbs but it's all back now.
Hope you feel better soon or find something that helps. x

If you are struggling to keep food and water down i would contact your dr, they will be able to give you something to help or if necessary get you whatever treatment you need. From past experience i have found the drs would always prefer that you tell them your concerns rather than ignore something that could end up being a problem just because you don't want to make a fuss. Good luck, hope you feel better soon!
