Q: Mucus Plug? Good sign? What's happening now?

So last night at 2 am I started feeling crampy and tight. I fell back asleep and woke back up again at around 5 am and had to BM. I was crampy again and was able to fall back asleep an hour later. Woke up at 8:30 am to pee, and lots of wet clear fluid fell out of my vagina and onto the floor, it was a little thicker then the consistency of water, I was convinced to was amniotic fluid. An hours later my mucus plug came out in 3 big pieces. Hubby and I went to L & D and I got checked out. It turns out it wasn't amniotic fluid.. I have no idea what this discharge could be from. But it comes out in small gushes.. Anyone know what it could be??

Oh dear, 40 weeks! Could be today! Or sometime really soon thereafter. Yay, how exciting!!

If you're approaching the big day(I didn't look at your profile and you didn't say how far along you are), that is a sign of early labor. You can lose your mucus plug weeks before labor, days or hours!

I know you can lose your whole plug and still not go into labour and I've heard of something called exterior or fore waters, it's a fluid that builds up behind the plug but is not part of the amniotic fluid. Perhaps thats what it was.
Personally I think you can't be far off the big event.
