Q: Early Braxton Hick Contractions - Normal? Causes?

I'm 14 weeks now and I am having Braxton Hicks contractions. I had a lot of them and early as well with my first pregnancy. That baby was term and healthy.

Anyone else out there have them ealy as well? My doctor said it was uncommon, but I shouldn't worry unless they were painful or there was bleeding. They are uncomfortable, but don't hurt and no bleeding.

Just looking for advice from others who may have them. Does being tired or dehydrated increase the frequency or intensity? Have you found anything that will decrease them? Would you necessarily have them with every pregnancy?

Probably everything is fine and I shouldn't worry, but that's never stopped me from worrying before ...

Mine started this pregnancy(my 4th) at 9 weeks already! Around 13 weeks they were really strong and regular and freaking me out, so I went to the ER. Turns out I had a bacterial infection that was setting them off, took an antibiotic and after a day they went away(at that strength and regularity). I still have them now, infrequently, which has been the norm for me in all my pregnancies. If you have start to have strong regular contractions though, I would see someone about it asap because it can cause issues such as pre-term labor or early rupture of membranes.

Hey hun. I started having then at about 15wks and was diagnosed with an irritable uterus, some women do experience them early but like your Dr my midwife was concerned but not worried.
Heres my list of triggers
Being stressed, tired, dehydrated (even just a little), sitting upright for too long, lifting, waking, needing to urinate or BM, tight trousers, back ache and being intimate with hubby all set mine off. The more of those I am the worse they are.
So I deal with them by laying on my side in loose pants, left first and then swap to right if that doesn't help in 30mins. Drink a pint of fluid and just chill out. If I've been laying down and they come in I get up and walk about.
If they pull in my back or my back hurts I take a paracetamol.
I get mine everyday but no where as bad as when they started as I'm on rest and avoid my triggers.
I hope this helps hun if you have any questions feel free to pm me x
