Q: how to induce labor..baby number 2

im 38.3w pregos. i am terrified of having my baby on Oct 13th due to personal reasons(no not superstition) i am already dilated to three and 40% on my cervix baby is head down and low they can feel her head when checking my cervix. i have already lost my MP and she has tried to come 4 times since 33w on her own and they have had to stop it cause it was to soon. I have good contractions but nothing that gets worse or stays long enough. I wont take castor oil.iv walked, taken warm baths, birthing ball, rubbed pressure points,we have been intimate, and ate spicy foods. i know she wont come till she is ready but is there anything i havent tried? Please no neg. comments and dont repeat the same thing someone else has already said if you already seen it in the comments. iv only gained 20lbs and am all baby. yes i want to meet my LO but really im just very uncomfortable and want to be two separate people at this point.

Walking...drink lots of water....more walking...maybe some swimming. Some mama's swear by nipple stimulation and sex. Semen has a softening effect on the cervix....and you having an orgasm can kick start the contractions. Walking and easy supported squats (uses gravity to bring things on) as long as you don't tire yourself out (think marathon not sprint) and eat small meals with lots of water and RELAX. My midwife once told me that mama's that are scared/stressed tend to delay things...even stall active labor. I had to be induced with my daughter, a cervix softener tampon thing and Pitocin, and I only recommend that if medically needed because it made the contractions SO SO SO much more painful and intense I felt out of control and ...it was bad. I hope you and baby are healthy and happy!

Starts labor: Scotch broom with a little vanilla to help it go down.

I agree with the walking, lots and lots of walking. Evening primrose, sex, pinapple and others that have been suggested are proven to ripen the cervix not induce labour, no study into home inductions have been fully considered so only walking is known to work.
I know that's not what your want to hear because you're very ready but you're so close it really can't be long now

Just so you Know I've heard that evening primrose oil, black cohosh and especially blue cohosh can have negative effects on mother and baby; they are strong and need to be considered an "induction" , whether "natural" or not. I would definitely speak to a healthcare provider before you use anything like this, but don't recommend it anyhow.

Oh - you can also ask your provider to do a stretch and sweep (or stripping the membranes) during a cervical check. Some providers will at 39 weeks, some won't, but it is supposed to help prep cervix and if you are ready may jump start labor for you too. :)

I'm 41 weeks and have been trying all sorts of things to get this LO out :) Here's what I've read - be sure to talk to your provider first before starting:
Nipple Stimulation - either manual or breast pump. Talk to your doctor for instructions as it can cause too strong of contractions. Releases oxytocin to help stimulate contractions.
Evening Primrose Oil/Borage Oil - orally and vaginally, contains GLA which the body converts to prostaglandins to help ripen cervix
Red Raspberry Leaf - Tea and/or capsules (orally), supposed to help organize contractions/prep uterus.
Clary Sage Oil - on belly or 5-6 drops in warm bath (stinks!) Not really sure what this is supposed to do, but read it on someones blog.
Sex - female orgasm releases oxytocin and male semen contains prostaglandins.
Acupuncture/acupressure - not sure the mechanism here, but some people find it helpful
Prenatal Massage - relaxes mom and can stimulate some of the pressure points.
GL!

Take a nature walk, on like a trail with hills and such, if you have any close to home/hospital, and walk hard, like stomp your feet down when you walk, it will really get baby to come down. My SIL went on a nature hike with us and the same night her water broke and she had her baby girl the next morning. If you don't have any nature trails go for a walk on pavement and walk very hard to get the baby pushing down on your cervix very hard, it may just break your water. :)

Sorry sweetie don't have anything helpful to say. Just good luck and wishing you a speedy delivery. Hope he/she comes soon. Sounds like it will happen before 13 oct. Can you have a stretch and sweep done. My midwife did this back in NZ and it worked. If your not sure what it is maybe google it. I'm terrible at explaining.
