Q: My son is constantly jumping on my belly?

I'm 10 weeks pregnant and I know the baby is well protected in amniotic fluid and is still in my pelvis but my 18 month old son is 28lbs, and he jumps on my belly A LOT but I can't tell at him because it's literally his way of saying "I want to cuddle" I correct him everytime and say be gentle but he's just not letting up and he seems to land right on my lower tummy. I've had so many elbows right in my uterus cause he likes to jump up and land an elbow in that spot! it hurts and sometimes gives me a quick shock of pain but I hadn't had any cramping from it until today, he jumped really hard on me and now I have dull aches... I'm starting to worry about it... anyone else have this problem? it's happening more often too, my son is extremely rambunctious and he plays hard but doesn't mean to.

I almost lost my forth baby cause my older son put his elbow in my uterus during my 1st trimester. Felt a sharp pain then a little later started cramping bad & started bleeding red blood. Thank the Lord I didn't!! Now I have a 19 month old who loves to get on my lap. I grab a throw pillow and put it on my belly for protection. It does help quiet a bit. You should also try It to help protect your baby. Works great also to put pillow in front of your belly when changing baby if they are a kicker. GL!

I have been having the same problem for the most part. My son is 21 months, and likes to kick when I change his diaper or he lays in bed next to me. It's not that hard, but I try to correct him every time and tell him to be careful because the baby is in there. I don't think he understands, but I am hoping he will soon. It's a hard one to handle. I know you want to correct this before it goes too far, but I know with my son it takes a long time of being consistent with something before it clicks for him. Best of luck.

My 3-year old daughter has a tendency to flop down on my lap occasionally too. She weighs almost the same as your son; she's a tiny little thing, lol:) I've started to immediately place my hands or arms over my belly protectively as soon as I see her coming towards my lap region. I can't count how many times I've been kneed in the crotch(OUCH!) I'm sure your son has no intention of hurting you, but you will have to put a stop to this sooner than later. I'm not sure how to tell you to tell your son he needs to stop; that's your decision. You wouldn't run into a belly-level counter over and over intentionally, even though there's a cushion with the amniotic fluid. Yes, the fluid provides a level of protection but it will only go so far. My solution has been to cover my belly protectively with my arms or grab her on her way down and place her gently onto my lap to avoid the "flop." That's the best I've got, hope it helps! Congratulations!
