Q: Mini pill side effects?

I've been on the mini pill now for 6 weeks, with a period occurring every 2 weeks. I suffered from migraines before starting the pill, but now they are worse and happening more frequently. I originally asked for the mini pill b/c I was breastfeeding with major supply issues and I had a nightmare experience with Mirena, so I was not about to subject myself to an IUD again. Anyways, on to my question. Is this normal side effects from the mini pill? I am getting a heavy period every 2 weeks (like I have to wear a tampon AND an overnight pad otherwise I leak through). The migraines are horrendous. I'll get one and it will last 4-5 days, have a 2 day break, and then get another one. (I have an appointment with my doctor to discuss the migraines next week to rule out anything serious.) I go back to have my semi annual check with my ob in December, but I'm thinking I may need to go in sooner? Any and all advice/insight would be helpful and appreciated! TIA!

I can't take this type of pill here in the UK because it gives me migraines. I've never had migraines in my life until I tried the pill at 19.
The drs will not prescribe a pill with migraines as a side effect to me now as they only get worse and worse apparently so it might be worth having a chat with the Dr to sort something else out.

You should probably go in sooner. Definitely doesn't sound like normal side effects at all. When I was in high school I was having periods every two weeks and migraines and I went months like that (just my natural hormones at the time too, no BC pills)before I got help for it. Don't put yourself through that hell any longer than you have to. Hope your doc can find something that works out better for you <3

In between pregnancies I successfully used a non-hormonal IUD with no side-effects. It could very well be the hormones that are giving you issues; I couldn't use anything with hormones cuz it made me CRAZY like batsh*t crazy. The non-hormonal IUD(Paraguard I think it's called?) was a life-saver for me. Good luck finding something!
