Q: Heartbeat on Ultrasound

I go for my first ultrasound on Wednesday. I will be 7weeks 6 days by my calculations. Should I be able to hear the baby's heartbeat or only see it?

I had a transvaginal scan at 7 and a half weeks, and heard the heartbeat. The doctor didn't have any trouble picking it up at all.

Just had my second ultrasound yesterday at 6 weeks 6 days pregnant. The heartbeat was clearly visible but they didn't even try to listen to it. I believe it is way too early...

In both of my ultrasounds (in Canada) I can't hear it, just see it. But I could hear it on the doppler by week 10.
